I Tried the Viral Negroni Sbagliato

Okay so, maybe it’s not so viral anymore. In fact, the interview that started the drinks’ craze is at least 4 months old by now, but nonetheless, I just had to try it for myself!

So I usually like to have one or two staple cocktails during any event being hosted at home. For Thanksgiving last year, I went with the Negroni Sbagliato, naturally, because of how viral the drink was at the time. However, I was NOT prepared for how difficult it was to find Campari. It was a last minute find and I had to try 3 different liquor stores until I found one. Pair that with the crazy traffic that happens the day before Thanksgiving before all businesses close, and the adventure of finding it was not very fun in the end. On Thanksgiving Day, though, that drink was all the craze in the household, and the side quest to obtain Campari was well worth it.

Ingredients-Campari, Vermouth, Prosecco

Sadly, this was the only picture I managed to get of the ingredients. It’s super simple; you only need Campari, Vermouth, Prosecco, and an orange slice or twist as garnish. If you like classic Negronis, you’re sure to love this drink as well, as it swaps out the gin for Prosecco! It’s basically a lighter and bubbly version of the Negroni. This drink is nice and strong though, and some would describe Campari as an acquired taste, so probably not your first option if you lean towards sweeter or lighter drinks. It’s definitely dry and super sophisticated; one or two will definitely be plenty for the evening.

One of the things that makes this viral drink hilarious is that Negroni Sbagliato roughly translates to “broken Negroni”, so the “…with Prosecco in it” description is kind of just repeating itself in a sense, since the “broken” part refers to the Prosecco. Emma D’Arcy is an absolute icon for that, though, because I truthfully hadn’t heard about this drink until she popularized it!

  • 1 1/2 oz Sweet Vermouth
  • 1 1/2 oz Campari
  • 1 1/2 oz Prosecco (To top it off)
  • 1 Orange slice or orange peel (For garnish)

Instructions

  • Add 1 1/2 ounces of Campari
  • Fill glass with ice

Notes

This recipe is super easy, especially because it’s made straight into the glass and there’s no cocktail shaker required!
If you don’t have a jigger, you can use a tablespoon instead. 1 1/2 oz is roughly 3 tablespoons.

And there you go-one Negroni Sbagliato! With Prosecco in it 😉 As always, drink responsibly!

The replies to this instagram story were almost all “oooh stunnin!”

I’m excited to know what you think when you make this pretty drink! Now onto our collective tarot card pull for the week <3

Page of Pentacles

With Saturn cazimi the sun in Aqua right now, taking advantage of the good luck that pours in with just some dedication to your craft is highly recommended. Remember that the page of pentacles is a sign of success only if you stay committed! Your studies and hard work will have you reaping in great rewards, especially to my Saturn-ruled babies, whenever Saturn decides to ease up on its children (once it leaves Aqua and enters Pisces). This is a more positive message to the five of cups reverse from last weeks reading. Staying committed to your path is crucial right now. Once Saturn enters dreamy, watery Pisces, you might notice the house that is ruled by Pisces in your natal chart to ease up (for example, if pisces rules your 2nd house, you may notice your financial situation improving). You might find passion for learning and releasing your creative side again. When going hand-in-hand with a bit of discipline from Saturn, you’re sure to see your projects through.

Well, that’s it for this week! Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
