Explore Downtown Plant City with Me!

Processed with VSCO with kk1 preset

A few weeks ago, I explored Downtown Plant City with my sweetie. This place is absolute heaven if you’re into antiques and cute, trendy coffee spots. The moment I stepped foot here, I felt transported back into a different time, and it almost didn’t feel like Florida at all, in a sense. Parking was super easy to find (rare in FL), there are actual crosswalks, and establishments are all within walking distance from each other. All of downtown is relatively small and can be thoroughly explored in just a couple of hours or so. Let’s explore some of my favorite places from this small adventure!

First up is Krazy Kup. This was the first spot we went to for some coffee, and it didn’t disappoint! I regret not taking any pics of my coffee order or the rest of the inside of the establishment, but the vibes were trendy and hip! The baristas were super friendly and the place was decorated with Kit Cat Klocks, had rubber hose-styled cartoons in the background, and felt very retro, or old-fashioned, but in the absolute best way. I highly recommend sitting here and enjoying a coffee and pastry if you ever find yourself in the small town of Plant City, because of its cozy and vintage environment.

Next up is a place I’m in love with, and just a small warning, if dolls or life-sized figurines freak you out, you might find these images slightly off-putting.

State Theatre

There’s a super cute, giant, pink building that you can’t miss when you’re walking around the area. On the outside, it reads “State Theatre” so obviously, it must have been a cinema when it was first built. However, when you walk inside, it is most definitely NOT a cinema. The place is filled with antiques, dolls, vinyls, books, furniture, and so much more. It’s almost like a museum, and the best part is that the entrance is free!

It instantly feels like you time-traveled when you walk inside. You get to explore this once-theatre that now contains items collected from wayyyy back then. I’m talking 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, and even before that. The stuff here is for sale, too! Everything is set up so nicely, like one giant exhibit; or like you’re walking around inside a painting. The lighting is also good enough for that perfect Instagram shot, which is awesome because there are so many photo opportunities here, and every corner is filled with something fun to look at!

Some of the stuff there might come off as creepy, but honestly, I was all for it. If you’re into collectibles, this is definitely the place to be. There were even parade parts from Disney World that operated decades ago, and other rare items that the friendly owners managed to get their hands on. It’s very impressive, and all look like items that would be worth lots and lots of money today. I definitely recommend coming here for a fun stroll through this whimsical building.

There were many other stores we walked into, most of them antique shops. They contained similar items, like books, old letters addressed to loved ones, jewelry, more dolls, handmaid soaps, and many other items. They were adorable and honestly, I could spend hours in each of these stores. We then happened upon a captivating little candy store that sold fudge, brownies, candy bark, bonbons, and many other treats! Of course, we had to get something, and we ended up buying some chocolate bark which was a 10/10.

There’s so much more I didn’t document because I was having such a fun time exploring this fun little corner of Plant City. It wasn’t crowded by any means, and there were lots of other fun shops I walked into, such as a soap and body butter store, and a small clothing shop. Almost every business that operates in this area is either a mom-and-pop shop or owned by a small business. It feels very homely and is a welcoming environment. I loved supporting small businesses and taking a break from the busy, corporate life you get in any other area of Florida. Now enjoy one more funny photo that my boyfriend absolutely hates before we get into the collective tarot card of the week!

Kinda looks like the original Annabelle doll :0
Queen of Skulls

Happy Pisces season! As you may have noticed, my Queen of Skulls card, symbolized by the swords in traditional tarot cards, got bleached by the sun when I left them out to cleanse one day šŸ™ along with another card that cannot be read at all, so r.i.p. But anyway, with Venus moving into Aries, we may find ourselves wanting to move a bit more impulsively. I love my Venus in Aries natives, as they do what they want when they want to. The future is never promised, so they make sure to live in the moment through (mostly) calculated risks. The Queen of Skulls, being a wise one who balances the needs of both her heart and mind, reminds us to use discernment before hastily moving forward. There are many aspects of our lives that need a makeover, and with Saturn soon moving into Pisces, this is your chance to do so. The Queen asks, “what can you bring forward into the next phase of your life with the proper boundaries, and what needs to go entirely?” Those born between 1997-1998 with their south node in Pisces will revisit past lessons once Saturn conjuncts with their natal south node. This energy has the potential to be challenging, yet rewarding, depending on how you respond to situations both in and out of your control. Will you finally take the necessary steps to live your best life? Embodying the Queen of Skulls (or Queen of Swords) will help get you there!
